Welcome to Class

Public Speaking. Confident Communication. Emotional IQ Development. Focused Listening Skills. Mastering Non-Verbal Cues. Finding Fast Agreement. Staying in the Present. Leadership Development. Team Building. Preparing for the Stage.

The act of improving ourselves goes by many names, but they all point to the same truth: adapting to an always-changing world is an essential life skill and business skill. The challenge? Since these skills aren’t taught in school and since most of us didn’t learn them from our family of origin, how do we learn them?

The answer might surprise you: play.

The same skill we used from birth remains the best tool for adults in our continued education. The practice of play is the very thing that makes the learning process possible and incredibly joyous. As we all change throughout our lives, let’s consciously choose to change through play. Join us back on the path where we all began. There, I can promise we’ll discover powerful insights and interpersonal life lessons waiting to reveal themselves.

Whether you’re seeking improv classes in Portland or team-building and business training in Portland — or beyond — welcome to class.

Is Improv Hard to Learn?

No. We don’t need any special talents to get started with improv. All it takes is a willingness to play, a gift all humans have at birth. There’s no need to be clever all the time. All that’s really required is agreeing. “Yes, and” is The Golden Rule: improv works best when we listen to each others’s ideas and then add something to it. That’s it. No complicated rules. Instead, everyone’s in it together and no one is expected to carry the whole load. Our Foundations level improv classes in Portland are a great place to start.

Who Should Take an Improv Class?

We’re asked this question all the time. The TL;DR answer: anyone. Improv is all about play and play is for anyone of any age. Like other kinds of play, Improv develops creativity, communication skills, confidence, and adaptability, making it useful for people in all walks of life. It also means that professionals and leaders should learn improv; students & young adults should learn improv; even people facing anxiety, addiction, or burnout should learn improv.
